Grief Support
While grief is the natural response to the loss of someone important to you, each person’s grief is unique. It is a process that takes time. Our qualified bereavement counselors can help you navigate the grieving process.
Support Through the Grief Process
After you have lost a loved one, you may be asking yourself: “Why can’t I get over it?” You may experience many emotions: anxiety, worry, guilt, loneliness.
All of these thoughts and feelings are normal. The grieving process has no timetable, but if these emotions are interfering with your life, you may need professional help.
Our services are designed to help you navigate grief at your own pace. We offer grief support to individuals and families as they cope with the emotional, social and financial stresses associated with life-limiting illness
and loss.
Throughout the year we host a number of grief support events and programs for the communities we serve.

Memorial Gatherings
During the summer and fall, Coastal Hospice hosts four community-based memorial ceremonies. These are at no cost and open to the public. The purpose of these gatherings is to provide a time of remembrance and reflection. Part of our time together will include a shell ritual. Sea shells are provided to all attendees or you’re invited to bring your own shell. Bereavement Counselors are present to offer grief support and general information about the organization to those interested in learning more about the services Coastal Hospice offers.
Open to all family and community members who have experienced the death of a loved one—whether or not Coastal Hospice was part of your journey. Anyone is welcome to this memorial gathering, where we recall the names and memories of loved ones and honor them.
Pediatric Grief Support
We offer a support program for children that provides tools to cope with loss and assist on their grief journey.
Camp Chameleon: June 2026
Registration Open!
Camp Chameleon is a 3-day summer day camp open to children ages 6 to 12. The camp offers a safe place for these children to express their grief, to explore the many emotions that accompany the death of someone close, and to learn age-appropriate coping skills that will assist them on their grief journey. Camp Chameleon is hosted through a partnership between The Personal Wellness Center and Coastal Hospice, both in Salisbury, MD.

Can anyone attend a bereavement program?
Yes! Our bereavement programs and services are open to anyone in the community and offered at no cost, whether or not Coastal Hospice cared for your loved one.

When are the next Memorial Gatherings in remembrance of loved ones?
We hold memorial gatherings each year in each of the four counties we serve; Dorchester, Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester. All are open to the public. The dates are on our websites calendar, in our Coastal Hospice Newsletters and on our social media pages.
