2 Mile Walk or 5K Run at Assateague State Park

Lace up your sneakers and get ready for a morning of fun, fitness, and community spirit! On Saturday, October 17, 2026, Beachwood, Inc. Custom Builders is proud to present the annual Coastal Walk & 5K Run at the breathtaking Assateague State Park.
Best of all, every step taken benefits the Coastal Hospice Patient Care.

Sponsored by Assateague State Park & Maryland Park Services, this event combines the beauty of Maryland’s shoreline with the power of local support. Whether you’re a seasoned runner chasing your next personal best or a family looking to stroll the scenic course together, the Coastal Walk & 5K Run offers something for everyone.

Participants can choose to compete (or not) in a 2-mile Walk or 5K Run at this year’s event at Assateague State Park (campground – day use – 6915 Stephen Decatur Hwy, Berlin, MD). Arrive at 8:00 AM for registration, refreshments, and music with a 9:00 AM start. Course map and details below.

Registration is $35 per participant, with sponsorship opportunities also available. Registration includes a dri-fit short-sleeve shirt, and medals will be awarded to the top finishers in each category following the race.

All ages welcome…bring the whole family! We are excited to have our furry friends run or walk alongside you as long as they are friendly and leashed. Due to plants that have thistles, a lot of participants put shoes on their dogs.

Since 1980, Coastal Hospice has provided compassionate comfort and care to residents of Maryland’s Lower Eastern Shore. As a nonprofit organization, we place our patients and families first and no one is ever turned away due to inability to pay. We serve patients wherever they call home, including skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, Coastal Hospice at the Lake, and the Macky & Pam Stansell House. For more than 45 years, it has been our honor to deliver high-quality, dignified care throughout Dorchester, Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester counties.

Participant $35

All participants MUST register through the walk or run link. You will be provided a short-sleeve dri-fit shirt (must provide size on registration form), walk/run timing bib, event parking, pre and post-event refreshments, awards ceremony (medals for top performers in each category), and listed in our Coastal Hospice Newsletter.

Course Map

The 5k course will start on the paved bike path, for approximately one (1) mile and then move on to the beach, for the remainder of the event. Participants will be able to run down near the water’s edge (hard sand) or up NEAR (but not on) the dunes for soft sand.

The 2 mile walk will be completely on the paved bike path and will be an out-and-back course.
