Position:THRIFT SHOP ASSOCIATE

General Statement of Duties: Under the direction and supervision of the Thrift Shop Operations Manager, provides support for the operation of the Thrift Shop.

Type: Per Diem

Functions:

  1. Prepares merchandise for sale and display; including sorting, washing, hanging and moving to sales floor as appropriate.
  2. Prepares houseware items by hand cleaning or running through dishwasher.
  1. Assists in removing seasonal items from sales floor and follows Thrift Shop SOP for storing and recycling merchandise, seasonal items.
  2. Prices merchandise.
  3. Assists in ensuring volunteers are following sales floor processes.
  4. Displays merchandise in an appealing way.
  5. May open and close store as needed.
  6. May operate cash register as needed and compute end of day total cash register reports.
  7. Helps stock sales floor with inventory.
  8. Other duties as directed by the Thrift Shop Operations Manager or their designee.

Requirements:

  1. Customer service attitude; works well with others, relates positively and courteously with a variety of people and co-workers.
  2. Creates a positive image of Coastal Hospice in all customer transactions.
  3. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance 80% of the shift and stand for up to four hours.
  4. Ability to maintain accurate records.
  5. Knowledge of grief process.
  6. Successful completion of the Coastal Hospice orientation and Thrift Shop training.

Position:THRIFT SHOP WAREHOUSE ASSOCIATE

General Statement of Duties: Under the direction and supervision of the Thrift Shop Operations Manager, provides support for the operation of the Thrift Shop.   Responsible for donated items to the Thrift Shop.

Type: Per Diem

Functions:

  1. Working knowledge of Thrift Shop Associate functions.
  1. Receives merchandise in the Donations Center and sorts/stores as directed.
  2. Processes new merchandise and readies for further processing by back room staff.
  3. Helps stock sales floor with inventory.
  4. Removes merchandise from sales floor for “sidewalk sale,” storage for next season or repurposing.
  5. Opens and closes store as needed.
  6. Operates cash register as needed.
  7. May compute end of the day cash register/point of sale reports and credit card totals.
  8. Other duties as directed by the Thrift Shop Operations Manager.

Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. General maintenance and repair skills.
  3. Prior related work experience.
  4. Reliable transportation.
  5. Customer service attitude; works well with others, relates positively and courteously with a variety of people and co-workers.

Position:VICE PRESIDENT OF CLINICAL SERVICES

Type:Full Time

As a member of the Sr. Management Team, we will count on you for the leadership and direction of clinical services for Coastal Hospice.  You’ll ensure our patients and families receive the highest quality care compliant with all regulations and standards.  Direct oversight of four home hospice teams, an inpatient unit and a hospice residential facility.

Master’s Degree in nursing, healthcare administration or related field required along with a minimum of 2 years successful experience managing interdisciplinary clinical teams. Hospice and Palliative Care Certification preferred.

Position:CERTIFIED MEDICATION TECHNICIAN

Type:Full Time

Full time, part time and per diem positions available.

Provides personal care services and administers medication to terminally ill patients at our hospice residential facility, The Macky & Pam Stansell House at Coastal Hospice at the Ocean.

3 – 12 hour shifts with weekend and holiday rotation required.  Must possess current Maryland CMT license.

Will consider CNA/GNA who are willing to attend CMT training and able to pass exam.

Position:MEDICAL SOCIAL WORKER

Type:Full Time

Seeking a Master’s prepared Social Worker to join our compassionate interdisciplinary team providing a premier hospice experience for our patients and families. Manages a case load which requires travel to patients’ residences throughout our service area which includes Wicomico, Dorchester, Somerset and Worcester counties on Maryland’s lower Eastern Shore. Works collaboratively with other social workers to meet program needs. May assist in supervision/mentoring of social work interns, as needed.  LMSW, LCSW or LCSW-C required.

Position:HOSPICE AIDES

Type: Full Time, Part Time and Per Diem

CNA or GNA. Requires at least one year previous experience in home care or geriatric setting.

Several positions now open for Dorchester, Worcester & Wicomico counties.

For our Home Hospice program; makes home visits to patients and assist with ADLs and light housekeeping.  Current Maryland CNA or GNA licensure, CPR, valid driver’s license and driving record that meets our standard required.

For Coastal Hospice at the Lake; Part time for evening and night shifts.

Position:OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

Type:  Per Diem

General Statement of Duties: Reporting to the Team Leader RN and in accord with professional

standards and practices and Coastal Hospice policies and procedures, assesses patients’ abilities for self-care

and provides occupational therapy services to enhance quality of life and independence.  Actively participates

in Interdisciplinary Team meetings.  Performs other professionally related responsibilities as requested by the Team Leader RN.

Functions:

  1. Participates with the Coastal Hospice Interdisciplinary Team in planning patient care.
  2. Provides staff consultation and in-service education.
  3. Evaluates patient’s ability for self-care and formulates short and long range goals in conjunction with the physician.
  4. Provides occupational therapy treatment to increase the patient’s functional independence.
  5. Teaches patient and family members special techniques or provides adaptive devices to help patient  gain independence in self-care and other daily activities.
  6. Utilizes activities and exercises to improve range of motion, strength and coordination of upper  extremities.
  7. Translates all exercises into functional activities and/or activities of daily living.
  8. Provides or advises on splints and other special equipment to improve function and to retard and/or prevent  deformities.
  9. Teaches therapy treatment to other interdisciplinary team members.
  10. Prepares reports of each patient evaluation including short and long range goals.
  11. Maintains current progress notes and records on all patients in accord with Coastal Hospice, Inc. policies  and procedures and standard professional practice.

Requirements:

  1. Registered in the state of Maryland.
  2. Certified by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
  3. Understands and accepts Coastal Hospice philosophy of care and policies.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work independently and to make sound professional judgments with a minimum of direct supervision.
  5. Emotionally mature and confident.
  6. Demonstrates excellent customer service for both internal and external customers.
  7. Maintains in-service education record and other needed personnel information.
  8. Motivated to work for the dying and bereaved according to the hospice concept and Coastal Hospice policies.
  9. Successful completion of Coastal Hospice, Inc. orientation for contract providers.
  10. Access to vehicle, valid driver’s license, and auto liability insurance to $300,000.

Position:SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST

Type:Per Diem

General Statement of Duties: Reporting to the Director of Clinical Services, provides speech therapy services to Coastal Hospice patients. Actively participates in Multidisciplinary Team/Multidisciplinary Team meetings. Assumes professionally related responsibilities as requested by the Director of Clinical Services.

Functions:

  1. Performs a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation which reflects the nature and severity of the disorder and the frequency and goals of treatment of each newly referred patient with a communicative disorder.
  2. Develops care plans for assessed patients; participates in Hospice Interdisciplinary Team meetings.
  3. Teaches patient families appropriate means of implementing the care plan.
  4. Confers regularly with the Director of Clinical Services regarding patients’ progress.
  5. Conducts an on-going treatment program for those patients identified as having a communicative disorder.
  6. Communicates with attending physician concerning speech therapy and documents this in patient’s record.
  7. Reviews speech therapy care plan with patient/family with the goal of their accepting appropriate responsibility for its implementation.
  8. Documents services rendered within 24 hours. Maintains clinical records so that problems, actions, and goals are accurate and clearly stated.
  9. Provides a discharge summary when therapy services are terminated.
  10. Adheres to Coastal Hospice policies as well as rules and regulations of state, federal and accrediting bodies that aid in determining those policies.

Requirements:

  1. Current Maryland license in Speech Pathology issued by the Maryland Board of Examiners of Speech Pathologists.
  2. Certification of Clinical Competence from American Speech-Language-Hearing Association desirable.
  3. Understanding and acceptance of Coastal Hospice philosophy of care and policies.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work independently and to make sound professional judgments with a minimum of direct supervision.
  5. Emotionally mature and confident.
  6. Willingness to accept supervision and to continue professional development.
  7. Motivation to work for the dying and bereaved according to the hospice concept and Coastal Hospice policies.
  8. Successful completion of Coastal Hospice. orientation for contract providers.
  9. Access to vehicle, valid driver’s license, and auto liability insurance to $300,000.

Position:DIETITIAN

Type:Per Diem

For all areas of our home hospice team.

General Statement of Duties:

Reporting to the Home Hospice Team Leader provides dietary consulting services to Coastal Hospice patients

(and/or their primary care provider) receiving hospice services.  Provides professionally related staff education.

Functions:

  1. Makes home visits or telephone calls to patients with unusually difficult nutritional problems.
  2. Provides guidance and instruction to Coastal Hospice staff and volunteers.
  3. Advises staff concerning implementation of therapeutic prescriptions.
  4. Demonstrates excellent customer service for both internal and external customers.
  5. Designs appropriate dietary regimens for individual patients, giving consideration to family practices and economic status.
  6. Provides quarterly staff education.
  7. Documents services within 24 hours and according to Coastal Hospice policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  1. Current Maryland license/registration as a Registered Dietitian or Nutritionist.
