Coastal Hospice at the Lake

Coastal Hospice at the Lake is a dedicated inpatient hospice facility located in a beautifully renovated wing of historic Deer’s Head Hospital Center in Salisbury. This peaceful setting provides three levels of care general inpatient care for short-term, intensive symptom management, respite care offering a five-night stay to give caregivers a much-needed break, and routine home care delivered in our hospice inpatient facility setting when appropriate.

 

A Peaceful Stay with Around the Clock Care

Coastal Hospice understands how important it is for patients and families to feel comfortable. Our wing provides six private and four semi-private rooms, so care is intimate and immediate. Friends and family are welcome at any time of the day or night with unlimited visiting hours.

Community rooms, including a garden room and a kitchen, and walking trails around the lake are places to gather and relax.

A Lifeline for Caregivers

We are here as a support system for caregivers and offer respite care as a much-needed break. We provide a short-term stay for the patient with the same level of quality care they would receive at home. We also accept patients that have just been released from the hospital and require transitioning to home hospice care. We assist with medication adjustments during the transition while their home is being prepared.

How long can I stay at Coastal Hospice at the Lake or the Macky and Pam Stansell House?
Length of stay varies based on a patient’s needs and level of care. Coastal Hospice at the Lake and Stansell House provide routine hospice care, general inpatient care (GIP), and respite care. Some stays are short term for symptom management or caregiver relief, but others may be longer depending on the patient’s condition, eligibility, and care needs. Our team will discuss available options and expected length of stay with each patient and family.
Yes, family and friends can visit.
All services are covered by Medicare, Medicaid or insurance, but yes, room and board are billed if the stay is not considered general in-patient or respite care. Please note that no one is ever turned away, regardless of their ability to pay.
