We Honor Veterans

The Department of Veterans Affairs and the National Hospice & Palliative Care Organization together developed the We Honor Veterans program to empower hospices and other healthcare providers to meet the unique needs of veterans and their families.

Honoring Those Who Served Us

There are over 15 million veterans living in America today. These men and women often carry experiences from their military service that present unique healthcare challenges. As a member of the national We Honor Veterans program, we take several steps to provide a unique service to veterans in our care.

  • Veterans who come into our care receive a special visit to honor them, along with a personalized certificate and a patriotic blanket donated by the community
  • We assist veterans and family members in enrolling and accessing VA benefits
  • We coordinate care with the VA and other healthcare organizations
  • We work with area veterans’ organizations to arrange color guards and attend special events honoring veterans

If you are a military veteran and you’d like to know more about volunteering for our We Honor Veterans Program, please call Volunteer Services at 410-742-8732.

Ceremonies to Celebrate Veterans

On veteran holidays throughout the year, we participate in special honor ceremonies open to all veterans across our service area. Every Veterans Day we hold a special ceremony in each of the four counties we serve, and we have also celebrated the Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans day on March 30.
